About AIAA Pegasus
Our goal is to design, build, and fly Aircraft and Rockets. We have two teams; the Advanced Rocketry Club (ARC) and the Remote Control Aircraft Team (RCAT). Click on the respective pages above to learn more about each team.
The Rocketry Club has been part of the chapter for 8 years. Historically, ARC has competed in the Argonia Cup. In 2024-2025, we decided to shoot for the stars and compete in NASA's Student Launch Initiative. RCAT is much of the history of the chapter. This team has been at WMU since 1995. When RCAT was founded, WMU did not even have an engineering campus and they worked out of the wind tunnel testing site at the Kalamazoo airport! As one of two Aerospace organizations at WMU, we partner with Western Aerospace Launch Initiative (WALI) to form the Students for the Exploration and Discovery of Space (SEDS) WMU Chapter. |

The perks of being a member |
Any WMU student with any major can join our organization and be a part of either or both teams.
Both teams are required to complete documentation throughout their competition seasons. English, Psychology, and Education majors, among other writing-heavy majors are needed to help write and edit documents. The club and its teams also utilize detailed line-item budgets for competitions. Finance, accounting and related majors are needed for handling funds and creating and updating budgets. Both teams are also in need of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering majors! Our aircrafts and rockets have electrical components that may use specialized programming. |
